Advocacy
- MPA is your advocate on a state level. MPA is your advocate at the Montana Legislature. Throughout each legislative session members of MPA receive timely “legislative updates” from our office staff that will detail the bills we are working on as well as information letting you how to contact state lawmakers to voice your opinion.
- MPA is your advocate on a national level. MPA is a leader in working with other national pharmacy associations to help pass federal legislation that delays AMP, provides passage of Prompt Pay, and delays DME Competitive Bidding as well as other critical provisions ensuring better patient access. By working closely with Montana’s Congressional Delegation, we will continue to fight for your interest on future bills to modify AMP and other federal measures.
- MPA speaks out at state rule hearings. In the last year, MPA has spoken out at Montana Medicaid hearings on the importance of a higher dispensing fee, special packaging costs, and the need for fair compounding regulations and reimbursements.
- MPA is your representative at the Board of Pharmacy. We have appeared before the Board of Pharmacy on matters involving CE rules, licensing fees, and the rights of pharmacies to control what drugs they dispense.
Continuing Education
MPA provides educational opportunities for Association members and other pharmacists. The Association's annual convention, held each spring, and the Winter CE Conference are the featured CE events every year.

Montana Impaired Pharmacist Program (MIPP)
This program was developed through a collaborative effort involving recovering pharmacists, the Montana State Board of Pharmacy, and the Montana Pharmacy Association. Pharmacists in all practice settings face chemical dependency risks everyday and they are too valuable to their families, friends, and communities to be left unassisted and untreated when chemical dependency issues arrise. The Montana Impaired Pharmacist program (MIPP) was developed to assist montana's pharmacists. The ultimate goal of the program is to help the recoving pharmacist / pharmacy technician / intern pharmacist to re-enter practice as a competent professional.
If you are concerned about a colleague or yourself, call the MIPP helpline at 406-531-4145 for confidential assistance.
